So far so good with the mobilising!
I am now walking crutch and walking stick free, back driving, and am managing everything independantly!
My foot is swollen at the end of the day, mostly around where the fracture was. It is a bit sore at times during the day, I have to remember not to overdo it too much. Easier said than done though with the kids to look after!
I have about another 4 weeks to go with the boot on. I am looking forward to the day when my surgeon says I can take it off! It is the best feeling at the end of the day to take it off, so to not have to put it on will be great!
I'm hoping all is well with my foot when I have my next xray, and I guess as long as things keep going along as they are, I will be happy.
I'm not sure how this pregnancy will affect things as I am getting bigger now, meaning more weight being put on my foot, and I'm sure there will be more swelling to come. Should make for interesting times ahead!

On two feet
Two feet on the ground.
I am actually walking, although 'wonkily' on two feet, still with the aid of crutches, just for stability. I have been managing on just one crutch at times which is fantastic! To have one hand free occasionally is great.
My foot is a bit sore at the end of the day, and to be honest, I haven't been walking great distances, still just pottering around the house at the moment, but I'm pleased with the way things are going so far
I think it will be a while before I am confidently chasing after the kids, but I feel like I am getting a little bit of independance back - and independance is a marvellous thing. I never realised until it was taken away!
My next medical appointment is actually with my Obstetrician, so will be looking forward to seeing bubs again. Before that I have to have my glucose tolerance test - not looking forward to that one as much. I am now 26 weeks pregnant, and starting to feel bigger every day, so starting to get up on two feet couldn't have come at a better time really!

Good news Tuesday!
Well my appointment with my Orthopaedic surgeon couldn't have gone better this morning!!
After having a look at my foot, and pushing quite hard over all the tender parts, he was happy that I can start weight bearing again! I was so excited by that bit of news I forgot to ask the 40,000 other questions I had to ask him!
I can also stop having the daily Clexane injections (Blood thinner), AND I no longer have to wear my boot 24 hours a day!! I can sleep without a bulky, hot boot again!!
I had to have an insole put into my boot to provide arch support, but its not too uncomfortable at all. I also have to source some new shoes......I would really like some nice sparkly, stylish ones, but alas, apparently they don't provide good support, so a new pair of cross trainers or sneakers it is.
My surgeon thinks that in a couple of weeks I should be able to ditch the crutches (might have to come up with a different name for this blog!) but I have to keep the boot on for another 6 weeks, until I see him again for review.
So all in all, today has been the best day since I first broke my foot 5 weeks and 5 days ago. Hopefully the weight bearing all goes to plan and I will be chasing after my kids again before too long.
